I feel like a fool saying "I read it for the plot!" but it's true. Look past the porn and there is honestly, a quite emotional plot. I'd place the plot somewhere between Fifty Shades of Gray and The Fault in Our Stars. Hopefully that's enough to warn you what you're getting yourself into. If you enjoy manga, and have a high tolerance for unnecessary sex jokes, Sundome is most certainly worth a try.

Eddie, a theme park worker, dies in an accident while on the job. Heaven is not what he expects it to be.
Albom writes with a tenderness and thoughtfulness that I feel I don't commonly see. This book is less about what will greet you after death, and more about the inter connectedness of everyone, no matter how briefly their paths may have crossed. It will make you cry and that's okay.
A Short Stay in Hell

Soren Johansson dies and goes to purgatory: an infitely tall library infinitely full of books, all with a random assortment of characters within them. if he would like to pass on, he must find a complete recountment of his life within one of those books.
It's a short book and a quick, gripping read. I do feel like the end was weaker than the beginning, but I think that was done to keep the ending open for your consideration.
